
Heidi Watney, born May 19, 1981, is an American sportscaster and reporter for Apple TV+. A graduate of the University of San Diego, her previous sportscasting experiences include assignments at MLB Network, New England Sports Network in Boston, Time Warner Cable SportsNet in Los Angeles, and two stations located in Fresno. Watney was a student at Clovis West High School, Fresno. In her time there, she competed in diving and hurdles. The school was home to a National Merit Scholar and attended the University of San Diego on an academic award, and she graduated with distinction in 2003. Watney participated in Miss California USA 2002, where she was the first in the runner-up category. Watney is the cousin professional golfer Nick Watney. [7] Andy Weir, author of The Martian science fiction novel has stated that Watney was his name and was the one who invented the character Mark Watney from it. She was named in an Red Sox broadcast. Watney was featured in the music video for Dropkick Murphys' "Going Out in Style" single. She was also featured as a reporter in the sideline of the video games MLB The Show 19, MLB The Show20 MLB The Show20, and MLB The Show 21, respectively. [10]
