Taylor Alison Swift, born December 13, 1989 is an American musician and singer. Swift's discography spans diverse genres, and her songwriting, often in the form of her personal life, has received wide public attention and praise from critics. Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville at age 14 to pursue a career as a country artist. She signed a songwriting contract with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2004 and a recording contract with Big Machine Records in 2005. The self-titled debut album she released in 2006 made Swift the first female country artist to release an album which was U.S.-certified platinum. Swift's next albums, Fearless (2008) and Speak Now (2010), focused on the country genre of pop. The songs "Love Story" and "You Belong with me" from the former were the first songs to have top of the U.S. all-genre and pop charts. Red (2012) included the first Billboard Hot 100 song number one, "We Are Never Ever Going Back Together". The singer discarded her image as a country singer and dropped 1989 (2014) which was a synth-pop album that included the chart-topping songs "Shake It off", "Blank Space" and "Bad Blood". Reputation (2017) featuring the number one single "Look what you made me do" was inspired by media attention. Swift, who was leaving Big Machine, signed with Republic Records for her seventh studio album Lover (2019), and then followed it with the autobiographical documentary Miss Americana 2020. Swift's albums for 2020 Folklore (2019) and Evermore (2020) were her first ventures into indie and alternative rock. "Cardigan" was a top-ten hit, while "Willow" was an album that ranked in the Top 100. Swift began re-recording her previous six albums following an argument over the masters. She released two albums in 2021--Fearless (Taylor's Version) and Red (Taylor's Version). The Red's "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" was the longest track to make it onto the Hot 100. The album from 2022 Midnights was released, and the single "Anti-Hero", broke records for streaming time. Swift has directed music videos and films like All Too Well The Short Film (2021), while also playing supporting roles in a variety of other projects. Swift is among the world's most popular artists, selling more than 200 million records across the globe. Swift is the most streamed artist on Spotify and has five albums open with more than one million copies sold in America. Twelve Grammy Awards including three Album of the Year nominations; an Emmy Award, 40 American Music Awards and 29 Billboard Music Awards. 92 Guinness World Records are just a few of her many accolades. Swift is included in many high-profile rankings, such as Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Songswriters of All Time and Billboard's Greatest of All Time Artists. Honored with titles such as Artist of the Decade and Woman of the Decade, Swift is an advocate for artists' rights as well as women's empowerment.
